The JoomSlot download, and why it is no longer there

The old download page was about as short as a page gets: a yellow software box, a black DOWNLOAD button, and a note in brackets saying you had to be logged in. The button is gone now and so is everything behind it.

What you got

The download was the JoomSlot component for Joomla 3, version 1.0. The page text called the file Joomslot1.0.zip; a later screenshot of the same page labels it as a version 1.1.2 zip and says "in processing, available soon". I've never seen evidence that 1.1.2 shipped, so treat 1.0 as the real release.

You needed a member account on joomslot.com to download it. Then came the second step people tended to miss: after installing, the component showed nothing until you applied for a JoomSlot API key, which was free and came through a short form asking for your website URL and server IP. The key and the game server address went into the component's Options screen. The installation guide has the screens for that.

There was also a bigger all-in-one download, a Kickstart package with Joomla 3.10.01 and the component already inside. That one is covered in the Kickstart setup guide.

Where things stand

Downloads, member registration and API keys have all closed. Even a copy of the zip found elsewhere won't give you a working lobby, because the games ran on a remote server that no longer answers. Don't go hunting for mirrors either: an old extension from an unknown host is exactly the kind of file that gets a backdoor added.

The rest of the manual is in the guides section, and the JoomSlot product page explains what the component was for. If you were really after the slot games rather than the software, you'd need to get a game ID from a platform that still runs.
